I´d like to find my distant relatives here in R.I. as well. I´ll tell you what I know, and you can contact me if you are or know of a relative. My grandfather was Michele DeSantis, born in 1881 in Panni. Came to US in 1904. His parents were Leonardo DeSantis and Victoria (Pascone) DeSantis. He had 1 brother Antonio who also came to US and a sister Annantonia who married a Cotoia and lived in Prov. area. He left 2 sisters in Panni: Maria Giuseppa and Eufemia. I´d love to know who they married. Annontonia Cotoia was a member of the Pannese Society. My grandmother was Giovannina Carchia. Born in 1883. Came to US in 1904. Her parents were Antonio Carchia and Josephine (Frenicola) Carchia. Married my grandfather at Holy Ghost Church, Prov. on Jan. 20, 1907. She had 4 sisters. Paola married a Cobuzzi and lived in Woburn; Vincenza who may have come to Prov. (I´m not sure.); Teresa and Michelina (and maybe Vincenza) remained in Panni. I´d also like to find out who they married. If you remember the DeSantis´ from Pope St. in Newport, drop me a line. |

He or the US Navy changed his name and it stuck. I am looking for the relatives of his brother John Croce who passed on in 1965. I have been to Panni on two visits and we are going again in May 03. I love the the village. I have located the house my father was born in. and a Croce still lives there. Not a relative there now but I plan to do more research. My grand mother name was Cotia.
